Compost!

I wanted to write a quick shout out to Aardvark Recycling:

They've been absolutely wonderful in composting all of our kitchen waste and turning it into super rich soil for community and school gardens. For those who are interested in composting on a residential basis, definitely give these guys a call. There is a strong push for eco-friendly dining, and it's really nice to be a part of it. We don't advertise it at all in the shop--we really want the emphasis to be on the fantastic food that we create, not on the fact we use 100% renewable energy, use energy efficient cooking methods, and that we use environmentally friendly packaging. We also have designed really nice jute bags for grocery shopping---I noticed most bags you see are just too narrow at the base to actually carry lots of groceries---our bags were originally designed to carry our large cake boxes and also make them perfect for groceries.

We've also recently received a positive mention in Timeout magazine:

'Our La Marzocco is at the espresso hospital and we wish it to get better soon,' laments the piece of A4 pasted to the side of Bea's replacement espresso maker. Sad news it may be--these handmade Florentine machines are legendary among coffee connoisseurs--but, thankfully, this delightfully twee little Bloomsbury boutique has other tricks up its sleeve: Valrhona hot chocolate; mountains of fluffy cupcakes with creamy complexions; and warming, hearty soups (on our visit, a rustic mushroom and truffle oil creation filled the room with its heady, intoxicating aromas).
Lunchtime grub is based on three light basics--soups, quiches/tartlets and salads--which change daily (check the website for today's specials). An open kitchen at the back ktakes up half of the shop space, where we spied some impressive ovens, evidence that all the sweet delights are made on site--apart from the curious, and somewhat random, bounty of north American sweets (Baby Ruth chocolate bars and Reese's peanut butter cups) that peer out from the bottom display cabinet, that is.

I also had to look up the word 'twee' in the dictionary. :)
